Johannes Weigelt

Theodor Otto Gustav Johannes Weigelt (24 July 1890 in Reppen, 22 April 1948 in Klein-Gerau) was a German palaeontologist and geologist.

Weigelt was the first proponent of taphonomy, the study of how organisms decay and eventually become fossilised. In 1934, he was the founder of the Museum for Earth Science of Central Germany at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. Provided by Wikipedia
