In "Avis de l'imprimeur sur cette nouvelle édition" (volume 1, page [1]-viij), Didot states that the plates will appear in 4 fascicles, of which the first, consisting of an allegorical frontispiece and 6 plates by Cochin for a proposed earlier edition that never was published, is already out. The projected plates by Moreau may have been designed about this time (1790), but they appear not to have been engraved and published until the years 1810-1812, when they were issued with remainder sheets of this edition. |
