Le Montespan /
Montespan became the laughingstock of the courtiers when the king took his wife for his mistress. It will continually defy the authority of Louis XIV and to require him to make her his wife. It was one of the historical figures who dared challenge the legitimacy of absolute monarchy by divine right.
