|a Part of the leather bar circuit, Griff's was located on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles and held its rowdy beer busts on Sundays. The first leatherman's wedding took place at Griff's in 1976 and was covered in Larry Townsand's Leatherman's Handbook and in Drummer Magazine, a magazine targeted at the gay male leather subculture. The beer bust was sponsored by the California Boots & Breeches Corps, a club for men interested in men in uniform formed in 1968.
