These cones, which are also known as a dedication or foundation nails, were inscribed and placed point-first into a specially prepared plaster or clay wall. This cone was found in the city of Lagash and contains a dedication to King Gudea, who reigned from 2144 to 2124. ... Nindara was a Sumerian god, the consort of the goddess Nanshe. Ngirsu was the capital of Lagash under Gudea, and a patesi is a high priest. Interestingly, the fingerprint of this cone's maker is visible at its apex" --Page 3, "A legacy of letters" exhibition catalog, published: [College Station, Texas] : Cushing Memorial Library & Archives, Texas A&M University Libraries, 2012.
