Originals formed part of "Gorrell's history of the American Expeditionary Forces Air Service, 1917-1919", typescript historical narratives, reports, photographs, and other records that documented the administrative, technical, and tactical activities of the Air Service in the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I, compiled by Colonel Edgar S. Gorrell and the Information Section of the American Expeditionary Forces Air Service for Major General Mason Patrick.
Photos appear to have been pasted into a scrapbook and subsequently cut out, with remnants of the paper on the reverse. Two sets of two photos stuck back-to-back together.
