FAA Proposed Rule To Expand the Use of Mode C Altitude-Reporting Transponders in the U.S.

Discusses a Federal Aviation Administration proposed rule which would greatly expand the areas in which commercial aircraft are required to have altitude-reporting (Mode C) transponders. Reviews major objections raised by general aviation, and safety needs still to be addressed.
